Alex McDowell

Alex McDowell is a British-born, award-winning production and narrative designer known for his pioneering work in world-building. With a career spanning over 30 years, he has designed major films for directors like David Fincher, Steven Spielberg, and Tim Burton, and his early work includes graphic design for punk bands and co-founding i-D magazine. McDowell is the creative director of Experimental Design, a firm for narrative and world design, and is a Professor of Practice at the University of Southern California (USC), where he leads the World Building Media Lab and serves as the William Cameron Menzies Endowed Chair in Production Design.
