Great Message
The story had a much different ending than what was expected and I really enjoyed that. I liked seeing the progression of the character from where he started to where he finished.
The use of color was used well to help with the transition from the character living on the streets to being in an environment that could be to his benefit. I also like the use of shooting elements of the location to give a feel of where they were at.
Nice use of a twist
Starting this film out in black and white with the nice rainy night was a great way to set us up for the twist at the end. I am not sure what you are shooting on, however, exposure is important. Shooting at night is hard but you were able to create a nice set of shots that were exposed well and kept me waiting for the stabbing. The locations were well used to add to the feel of this movie.
I did not see that ending coming.
I like the use of black and white. The choice to not show faces for many of the shots was a strong and good choice, it made it creepier and darker. This film had some really good production value in the workshop. The ending was funny.
A Twist of Fate
Kudos to the filmmakers on this one! Though your story could have used a little more development and you actors could have used more rehearsals you nailed the prompt. Your film really embodied Hitchcock. I LOVED the reveal of the hand while he was sitting on the bench. Superb lighting in that scene. The foot stepping in the puddle. Shooting at night was an excellent choice and a great wet down. Technically you were really nailing it. Keep honing your skills. You have great potential.
Great Camera Work
The B&W worked really well for this project and I think the filmmakers used what they had with a high degree of success. They really used the one light cinematography with great effect. I wasn't too sure what happened when the film transitioned to color about halfway through. The sound at times could have been clearer and louder in addition to needing some foley, which would have increased the quality. But I'm giving it high marks based on those opening scenes.
