At the Drop of a Hat
Charlie Brewer gets home from work, upon putting his coat away, he notices a hat in the closet with the initials B M on them. He doesn’t think much of it at first and goes to talk to his wife about his day at work, (maybe the news too). After they talk, Margret Brewer goes out to meet one of her friends for drinks, she never comes back. Brian hears on the morning news the next day that she died, her car was found driven off the road. In order to cope with his wife’s death, Charlie decides to attend therapy sessions with Dr. Mischler, a therapist. Upon arriving at her office for his first session, he sees a jacket with the initials B M embroidered on the side, the letters look alike to the ones he saw on the hat the night Margret Brewer died. Upon seeing this, he reaches the conclusion that his wife was cheating on him with Brian Mischler, his therapist’s husband. As they talk more, it becomes evident that Dr. Mischler is a fairly jealous person, which causes Charlie to start to suspect that she was behind his wife’s murder. Sad and lonely, Charlie decides to have a few drinks at home, but what was supposed to be a few drinks results in him blacking out. He wakes up the next morning, hungover, and calls the therapist's office to tell them he isn’t coming because he isn’t feeling well. He is answered by a receptionist who tells him that Debra (Dr.) Mischler was strangled in her sleep last night. Charlie reaches into his pocket for a handkerchief but finds some rope in there, realizing he has some rope burn marks on his hands as well, he realizes that he was the one who killed Dr. Mischler. He drops to the couch, lucid yet distraught in his realization of having murdered Dr. Mischler.

when a stranger calls
I like the attempt to do a period piece and not just do modern time like most do. You were able to tell a story in a couple small locations and they worked for what you were doing. The camera work was good and the sound was done well. Good job!
At the drop of a hat
I think the idea of this film was great but the writing was confusing and not focused. The acting was ok but did not believe the characters, The sound was echoing and hard to hear. Hand held as a choice is a hard one, usually it is chosen to create emotion in the viewer, if you were to use the camera on a tripod for the first part then handheld for the last part of the film it would have created more emotion, making the viewer feel uneasy. all in all a good film although flawed in aspects.
Superb Writing
Bravo! Way to take the prompt and really run with it. Though the audio could have been a little more rich the writing and the execution on the story was really well done. Great attention to blocking and camera moves (next time really focus on smoothing that camera out a bit). Loved the attention to the make-up hair and wardrobe. Congrats for taking on that challenge.
Nailed Hitch Spot On!
I loved the opening. It had the right music and tone. Very Hitch. The acting was over-the-top, just like old Hitchcock films. So perfect. The camera moves were very Hitchcock as well. There are only a couple of places that could have been improved. The lighting and production design could be improved. It would have been better set at night with a bit more moody lighting. The music selection was also right where it should be. These filmmakers nailed Hitch pretty spot on.
