Survivors
A young man embarks on a risky journey, as he tries to make peace with the betrayal of his best friend. The story begins with what was meant to be a peaceful scavenger hunt for supplies. Though, when he ventures out into the forest and discovers a safe haven sign he is mixed with contrasting thoughts. It should be simple, all he has to do is reach the compound and he will be free from the apocalyptic world he has been desperately trying to survive in. But, he realizes his decision to leave the manipulative and abusive group betrays his best friend’s core value, loyalty. His other group members grow more suspicious of his actions. His decision to leave will not only compromise the safety of himself and his friend, but will also force him to consider a universal question of apocalyptic scenarios; ‘Am I, is the world, worth saving.

Overall this is pretty well done.
I like your use of depth-of-field. I think if it were 4 months into the apocalypse your characters would have been dirtier and worn out. Good choice on the music. I thought the time transition was very effective. You built the Hitchcock suspense very well. I thought some of your scenes could have had more convincing locations. 4 months into the apocalypse and the lawn is freshly cut. Your editing was tighter than most. Well done.

Apocalyptic
I like your concept here quite a bit. You are certainly on to something. The key to this competition was the prompt and you didn't really apply that here much at all...more Hitchcock is critical. Hitchcock would have been far more subtle with the impending danger and the violence. Unfortunately the violence and gun usage is too much. That being said, I was impressed with some of your camera work and the depth of field. Your sound was great at times. Keep honing your skills

Great exercise on techniques.
I'm gonna speak most to the DP since thats what I do for a living. AWESOME compositions, I loved the water jug walking montage. Remember to always watch your frame rate though, 24p with a shutter speed at 48 or 50 is what gives you the "cinematic" look. Next is you have to be on top of your focus, I know some of the shots were styled to be out of focus but the opening of the film our main character was "soft" the whole time.
Keep it up you have a bright future in film if you want it.

survivors.
interesting ideas but falls short. there needs to be more development of characters and story. what challenges are they facing? are they out of food? why does he want to leave, does he get abused etc. add these into the film and then this well rounded idea would work.

Out in the cold
Great work of camera angles to show depth and keep the scene active. Great use of the cut away and reaction shot of the friend being shot. It is always more powerful to show the human reaction over the graphic violence. I loved the added rain in the field it adds to the realism of the story.

Want to see more of the story!
This felt like the opening scene of a good suspense story!
The setup of the characters and story was well done and it made me want to know more about why they were scavenging and how they came together.
Trying to make a film a lot of dialogue in this situation is really difficult, but I felt all of the actors really did their best to show emotion and be into the characters.
The cinematography was solid and they used available light to their advantage.
