Rising Action is Critical to Keeping your Audience
Good effort here. A quick story note: Act 2 is the car ride. Your action should go from 1-10 but it starts with a 9 when the knife is revealed. Then the first conversation was an 8 then next it went to a 2 and then next back to a 7. In the first few minutes of the 2nd act your action was very erratic. Build it from a 1 and end on a 10. Your best dialogue was the 2 but because it already hit 8 the 2 was anticlimactic. You've got the right pieces, you just need them in order to keep your audience
Nice Set-up
Nice work here. Great set-up and you have a pretty good execution. Great picture in picture. Nice depth of field. Now for some feedback. The plot was predictable. The minute that he picked up the hitchhiker I knew what was going to happen. Develop your screenplay is such a way that the audience goes back and forth as to wether or not he's the killer. That will keep your audience intrigued. Strive to stay ahead of your audience and with your script, I was two steps ahead of you. Still, good work.
Pick up this Hitchhiker
This was an age old story we've seen done in Hollywood over and over. These students did a good job of capturing that fear. I'm glad they shot it at night but the lighting could have been better. I really liked the last shot with the brake lights, very cinematic.
A Hitchhikers Thumbs Up
You have an interesting concept here and great use of picture in picture. Details like that take planning and it was great to see. I would have like to have seen you take the development of your story a little further. You were on to something and with more development you could have taken it from feeling like a scene of a larger story to being a complete story. Great use of rack focus and your music really played a strong role in the tone. Keep honing the craft. You've got potential.
The Spirit of Hitch
This is an interesting project. The filmmakers really got the setup of the situation and built a good bit of suspense up. I think the wardrobe of the news anchor and the hitchhiker sort of pulled me out a bit. The cinematography is really the strong point here. I loved the shot with the thumb and the brake lights. I think you could have added some passing lights on the people in the car and it would have been a lot more convincing. Overall it is a pretty solid piece.
