Little issues with the film
Acting is great and the cinematography is nice. But there are times when the camera seem out of focus. But great film overall.
Through Hitch's Eyes
Nice use of camera angle, black and white and long takes. I was glad to see you really make some bold moves there. With this particular story, dialogue is critical. Every world spoken reveals plot. You really sold well the misconception of what was being talked about. As a comment, you hit the same note quite a few times just in different ways. Are there other places that you can take the audience. I got a little tired of it once I got it and wanted you to explore the misperception a little more
Editing and Pacing
You've really caught the Hitchcock flavor here. Now it's a matter of polish. The idea is he's saying one thing and meaning another. As a viewer, that came across very clear. Maybe too clear. I feel you could have edited the opening conversation to be quite a bit shorter and maybe revealed the roommate a little sooner. I think the audience is a bit ahead of you and you want to always be ahead of the audience. Pacing of the information is critical to really pull this story off. Nice effort though.
shoot.....
This film was a great ode to films of the Noir genre, but falls short of story structure and believability. hard to follow the story line and ends with a gotcha that does not deliver. great idea but need some work.
Words Can Be Deceiving
Great concept. Well done and a great play on suspense and words. I liked that you really committed to Hitchcock. Nicely done there. Great high shot. Nice reference to Psycho in your music and effects. You had longer takes like Hitchcock would have done. The challenge there is getting performances out of your actors. The acting in your piece was a little stiff so lots of rehearsal would have been beneficial to you overall piece. Good job.
See You At The Shoot
This was fun. The filmmakers really hit the Hitch tone by using just the right camera movement and angles. I think the opening monologue was a bit long and could have been broken up with some inserts to help keep the audience engaged, but as it pulled back to reveal the roommate, I forgave the length. The acting was campy and worked well with the Hitch tone. I also liked the B&W. There were some great choices made here.
