Some Interesting Shots

No ratings yet

I think the story of this project can be interesting but it needs to be shorter overall. There were some good compositions throughout the project that demonstrated the team was understanding cinematography. I didn't see any focal lengths demonstrated however. I'm interested to see what this team of young filmmakers make next. That is going to be the real test.

A Fun Concept But A Tad Long.

average rating is 1.2 out of 5

This project had a fun message about a young woman who is trying to figure out a new hairstyle but it just isn't working. I think many of the scenes could have been cut way down and the same message given in about 60 seconds total. I liked the composition of her in the mirror with the computer image of what she was going for in the BG was great. You need to clean your lens a bit, it was blooming from the computer screen. I can't wait to see what you do next.

Every Decision Is Deliberate

You did a pretty good job. The question I would ask or challenge you to do is to have every shot be motivated by your story. Starting on a low angle and panning up to your character is a good choice but what does it say for your story. What did you make that decision. Why did you decide to shoot most of your shots looking into the mirror? is it because she is insecure in those moments and not (not a real image of her..not personal?). You might have been doing that but if not, do that next time.

A Hairy Predicament

Good job. I liked your use of angels that took advantage of the mirrors with having your stars head and hands coming in and out of frame. That was a good use of your camera frame. Next time around see how you can integrate the use of lighting and depth of field, changing your focus from different points in the frame, guiding your audience where to look. Keep making films.

Telling Your Story Without Words

average rating is 2.3 out of 5

Congratulations on telling a story just by using visuals. It's not an easy task and you did a pretty good job. The one piece of feedback that I would give you would be with your editing. You had many shots in your film that could have been quite a bit shorter and you would have still told the same story. At times I found my mind wondering and that can be easily solved by making your shots shorter. You did a good job here. Keep making films.
