PSA

2020

July 23rd

A high school student is up at night, working on an assignment for school, reaches a road block. He has become overworked and stressed due to the pressures he faces academically, so he turns to drugs he obtained. Although hoping for a stress reliever, his use of drugs turns into the unexpected; an addiction. (This film is a PSA over substance abuse and focuses on a high school student to illustrate the problem some students deal with when it comes to drugs and other substances. Most of the film is the actual "story" and is supposed to inform the film viewers on the dangers of substance abuse, and how even if one may not believe so, it can ultimately lead to a self destructive and harmful addiction.)

Strong Message

There is a lot I like about this PSA. The use of black and white, the moody lighting and use of sound effects - the sound of just the pills strongly makes the point that is coming at the end. The voice over could be a little louder, slower and stronger - do multiple takes to get the best one.

Cool Presentation

I loved the way you presented the PSA through your cinematography. The dark backgrounds and lighting give it a very somber and dark tone. I think the voiceover could use another take but other than that I really enjoyed it.

Great Message

I enjoyed the message in this film, it is an important topic some people shy away from due to its severity. I feel like the film could have used a bit more variety in camera angles to keep the viewer engaged. Overall a good experience.

Good Cinematography

The black and white visuals and sounds from shaking the pill bottle worked well in contributing to the dramatic effectiveness of this PSA. The writing for the voiceover was written well, and the combined factors of all of these contributed to something that feels like a real PSA you would see on television. One of the only real faults was the mistake in the narration, but overall, this PSA was well made, especially in visuals and writing.
