Very creative

This film was very creative.

Very Cool!

average rating is 3 out of 5

I really liked how the world was built; the inserts of the flowers in the rain and the airport shots including planes were very nice touches that add to the believability of the narrative. I think the sound mixing could use a little work, but I loved how you used different music to change the tone; very creative!

Does "The Departure" Have Wings?

average rating is 2.7 out of 5

I'm confounded by character limit, so I'll be succinct:

The Bad - Small problems we all occasionally suffer from: an unlevel camera here, too little light there. The real problem is in the writing, which doesn't fill in the necessary emotional gap to make the ending truly dramatic. God knows that's a hard ask.

The Good - The team recognized a great visual opportunity in utilizing the planes in Tulsa Tech's hangar. It definitely elevates their film. The edit also plays well with what they had.

I like this film and the ending with the plane was very creative. Music was also a very good choice.

Missed 3/4 of the Story

average rating is 1.6 out of 5

I'm not too clear on what happened in this story exactly. There's an old saying in Hollywood, "the audience only knows what you show them." In this case I feel like I got up during a commercial break and missed 3/4 of the story. The exposures were good though... much better than most student films. My advice is to really work on that script before you shoot next time. Make sure there's a story there on the page.
