Mind and Bodies

Mind & Bodies is a short film in the genre of suspense/thriller. It takes place in a futuristic society in which advanced technologies made holograms accessible, chaos inevitable, and tampering with your mind commonplace. Our protagonist, who goes by the name of Johnson, must excel in order to stay afloat. Alas, he soon begins to… struggle. One night, he goes into his bathroom, and notices a corpse. Johnson is horrified at the sight, and even more alarmed by the spontaneousness of it. He begins to wonder what possible rationale would lead to a body in his home. His knee jerk reaction is to call law enforcement. Unfortunately for our protagonist, another dead individual mysteriously appears a short time after. He quickly realizes that to call law enforcement would lead to suspicion of him and legal punishments. Johnson’s next move is to hide the body, but nosy people and a growing amount of bodies make this more and more difficult. In order to discover the truth, he must wrestle with the question of “why”.

The Simulation was interesting

I enjoyed this film. There were some great shots and acting moments. Watch the audio transitions and sound effects as they sometimes do not match. Would have liked a stronger ending showing a little more with simulation, but all and all great fun film.

Fragmented

I want to love this, the flow, the shot the acting... but there is something... Great concept. On the phone call the fact that the dialogue state home and not hotel creates a break in the story line for me. Sound was rather low. You guys a really close to having a fantastic short. Great job!

Almost a Mindful

Ended up watching the end a couple of times to figure out what happened and still not sure, which is a tad disappointing because the rest of the film had so much going for it. Acting was really strong. Really enjoyed the scene in the elevator (the sound of the gum popping was a great natural foley.) Edits were smooth with minor blemishes.

Mind and Bodies Review

Good Direction and Acting. Cinematography has some odd shots and out of focus elements. creative use of "bodies" I question the abrupt ending. sort of were out of time, end it somehow. the audio was low during the last few parts, it was tough to hear.

What Just Happened?

This was one of the most "out there" concepts I saw at SkillsUSA 2022. I really loved the elevator scene. The acting throughout the piece was very, very strong. I also really liked the overall color and tone of the film. The sound could have used some punching up. Maybe some insert shots of teens in the car after the wreckage. This was quite good and worth the watch.
