Blooming Perception
Blooming Perception is an inspiring three-minute short film set in a serene park in Atlanta, Georgia. The story follows a struggling writer who learns to not give up, but instead let his ideas flourish. The film begins with the protagonist walking to a bench and sitting down. With the urge to pursue his creative ways, he takes out his notebook and begins writing a story. After some time, our character struggles to create the perfect narrative and rips a piece of paper out of his notebook. He repeatedly finds it difficult to write a story and becomes more and more upset, putting his hands on his face in despair. He turns his head to see the crumbled papers he threw, but is surprised to see the crumpled papers turned to roses. A sense of confusion overcomes him as he reaches for the rose. After touching a petal, he is given the visual of how grand his story could have been if he finished the story. He picks up the rose and decides to look at “his failure” differently.

Well done. This project was so simple and yet so very effective. I really liked how the filmmakers took something that could have gotten so complicated and made it simple visually.

I'm actually shocked that this team turned in something so great. They had only 3 days to make their project and still they came out with one of the better projects. I love how subtle the filmmaker deals with his message. It's wonderfully done and shows a depth and understanding of character and story that is rarely found in someone so young. Well done!

The director of photography who shot this little film has a great eye. I think you may be seeing his name on theatrical films in the future. I also liked how poetic the director's storytelling style was. Awesome!

This was very creatively done. You can tell the filmmakers have a lot of artistic influence to draw from. But it lacks that Francis Ford Coppola tone from the film, Tucker.
